Barbara “Barbie” Fowler, age 89, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019. She was born in Earlham, Iowa on February 16, 1930 to the late John and Fern Golightly. After graduating from high school Barbie attended Cedar Falls College and then began her teaching career. After marrying her husband, Jack Fowler, she ran a preschool in her home in Marshalltown, Iowa for 14 years. She retired after 31 years of teaching at the Heber Springs School Department. Barbie volunteered at Cleburne County Cares and was always involved in her church, the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, Son, John Fowler, and son, Scott Fowler.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Forrest Jack Fowler, Son, Steve Fowler, Daughter, Cynthia Bader (Jay), Grandchildren, William Peter (Kate), Stephanie O’Callaghan (Dave), John Dean Fowler, and Shauna Fowler. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Trevor Fowler and John Forrest Peter.
A memorial service will be held on February 15th from 11:00 to 12:00 at the First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
