David Thompson

December 1, 1947 — August 12, 2019

David Jefferies Thompson died peacefully on August 12, 2019 at the age of 71 following a brief illness.  He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 1, 1947. He graduated from Central High School and attended college at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

David lived an adventurous life surrounded by interesting people. He enjoyed living on his own terms while treating others with respect and courtesy. He was self-sufficient and remained fiercely independent throughout all challenges.  He was blessed with good looks, intelligence, a charismatic personality and a sense of loyalty which allowed him to maintain special friendships for a lifetime.  During recent years, he devoted much of his time to helping the elderly and others in need.

David was an avid reader and a sports fan with a particular interest in NFL football.  He loved music, movies and politics.  He was a fascinating conversationalist.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thompson and Julia Thompson and his stepmother, Helen Thompson.  He is survived by his beloved cat, Max, sister, Catharine Thompson, nieces, Nicole and Ashley Thompson, great nephews, Benjamin and Alexander Wilson, friends at Maumelle State Park and lifelong friends in Northern California and Hillcrest in Little Rock.

Funeral arrangements are pending.  Charitable contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
