Eugene Levy

December 14, 1936 — February 14, 2019

Eugene Pfeifer Levy, FAIA, age 82, of Little Rock, died February 14, 2019. Born in Little Rock on December 14, 1936, he was the son of E. G. Levy and Elizabeth Pfeifer Levy. He attended Little Rock public schools and graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1954.

With a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia, he worked for the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a special projects architect at Ft. Huachuca. In 1962 he returned to Little Rock and went to work with his father-in-law, Edwin B. Cromwell, at the architectural firm Ginnochio, Cromwell, Carter and Neyland, now Cromwell Architects Engineers, where he worked until his retirement in 2018.

During his tenure at Cromwell he served as President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. He expanded the firm’s work across the country and around the world, winning over 40 design awards during his career. His design for the Belvedere at Riverfront Park was selected for construction in a design contest. Many of his designs include homes and buildings across the city, the state, the country, and around the world.

He was an avid tennis player, and an active volunteer in the Little Rock community, including many years of service for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas, the American Red Cross, Fifty for the Future, Temple B’nai Israel, Rotary Club 99, and the State Board of Architects.

Gene is survived by his wife Candy, sister Trudy Jacobson (Jerry), sons Ed (Mary), Stewart (Rhoda) and Charles (Zeinaida) and their mother Trudie Watkins Levy Cromwell, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many cousins, inlaws, and friends.

He was a kind and friendly man, loved by all, and stranger to none. We will miss him very much.

In lieu of flowers or food, memorials in his honor may be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas (http://www.arclubs.org, 501-666-8816).

May he rest in peace.
