Richard Murray

January 14, 1947 — February 11, 2019

Richard Alan Murray, Sr, died peacefully at home on February 11, 2019 in Alexander, Arkansas, at the age of 72.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Meg Jordan Murray, and sisters, Carol Graham and husband, Roger of Maydell, Texas, and Phyllis Davis and husband, Ervin, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, as well as his wife’s family who loved Richard, including her mother, Margaret Jordan of Memphis; sister, Merry Jennings (Don) of North Carolina and brother, Warren Jordan, Jr. (Lesa), also of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Murray; his father, Ralph Murray; his sister, Linda Brewer and     2 baby granddaughters, Bailey Jane and Laney Jordan Murray.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Richard was a graduate of Channelview High School and after serving in the Army his career was in Quality Control. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed woodworking, crafting and selling homecoming mums, but most of all he treasured time with his 3 children and grandchildren.  They include son, Alan Murray and his wife, Audrey and their children Jack, Grace and Luke; daughter, Meredith Newton and her husband, Quincy with children Madison, David, Monica and Jason; son, Jordan Murray and his daughter, Lilly and her Mother, Rose; and his Goddaughter, Amy McDaniel Beesley.  Also included are his niece, Jenny Peters and nephews Aaron and Eddie Brewer.

A memorial service will be held in River Pointe Church, 970 Dell Dale St. in Channelview, Texas on March 3, 2019, at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Richard requested donations be made to the memorial scholarship set up for his granddaughter, Madison Newton, who has been accepted as a junior and will attend Sam Houston State University this fall, pursuing a degree in Education.
