William "Bill" Whitten

July 16, 1947 — September 7, 2020

Greenbrier, Arkansas

William “Bill” Henry Whitten, 73, of Greenbrier, AR, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in July 16, 1947 to parents A.L. and Mary Whitten in Memphis, TN. Bill received degrees from Hendrix College, the University of Central Arkansas, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. On July 27, 1991 he married Robin Rebecca Davis.

Bill was a lifelong advocate for all animals, especially those that were abused and/or abandoned. He was also a beloved and dedicated school counselor at Crestwood Elementary in North Little Rock, AR, where he was known for his humor and his compassionate spirit. Bill was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Mountain View, AR and enjoyed volunteering with Robin at the Stone County Humane Society.

Bill is survived by his wife, Robin, stepdaughter, Christa, granddaughter, Lola, mother-in-law, Marilyn, brother-in-law, Matt, sister-in-law, Cathy, and beloved pets Zoey, Skipper, Izzy, Shadow, Dancer, Riyah, and Azim. He was preceded in death by father, A.L. Whitten, mother, Mary Whitten, and brother, Bruce Whitten.

Because of Bill’s boundless love for all animals, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local humane societies “in memory of.” A private ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held, in lieu of a service.
