She was an avid book reader and developed a vocabulary second to none. Every word she used she could also spell. She loved cross word puzzles, drawing and painting, gardening and playing cards. She was a single Mother raising her children. She started out as a waitress now days it is called food server and progressed to being a manager of Howard Johnsons Restaurant in Wichita. She then was promoted to Supervisor in a tri state area and enjoyed traveling Ar, La. Tx. She moved to Houston and bought her first home all by herself in Magnolia, Texas. She called it her little acre of Heaven. She was so proud. In time she retired from work due to a back injury, and it became necessary for her to move to Laredo, Texas with her daughter Joyce and family. After some years they moved to Victoria, Texas and Betty loved it there. After some time her daughter became very ill and passed away in February of 2007 and she lost her Son in July of 2007. After the loss of her daughter she was in a nursing home for a year before moving to Arkansas. She grew to love Arkansas and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had four years with her family in Arkansas. So much joy and laughter sharing good food and holidays and Birthdays. Her favorite thing to say was ~"Oh Boy"~, it didn’t matter if it was going out to eat, or shopping or simply being at home with her family. She had a smile that could warm your heart, and a sense of humor everyone loved and enjoyed. The family would like to extend heart felt thanks to the Woodland Hills nursing home. A special place for special people.
