Betty Jean Hobbs, 69, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home on July 12, 2025. Born and raised in Benton, Betty lived her entire life in the community she loved, surrounded by family, friends, and a house full of animals.
Betty was known for her hard work and dedication, spending many years as a school bus driver and later working as a skilled bus mechanic at the local bus shed. She was a familiar, friendly face to countless students over the years and took pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way.
She is survived by her two children, Franklin Hobbs and Valerie Smith (Ben) and two grandsons, Brodie Miller and Gavin Miller, who were her pride and joy. She loved nothing more than spoiling her “grandbaby boys,” as she fondly called them. Betty is also survived by her two brothers, Joe (Connie) and Jackie Farner, multiple nieces and nephews, and many friends from over the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Terry Hobbs.
Betty was known for her quirkiness, endless kindness, and the genuine way she connected with everyone she met. She never met a stranger and would chat with anyone. Her deep love for animals meant her home was always filled with pets—her own little zoo—each one loved like family.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private gathering will be held by the family at a later date.
