Betty Ketchum

Betty Jane Ketchum (née Wood), aged 88, passed away on October 5, 2023, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on May 1, 1935, in Grapevine, Arkansas. Betty was a woman of remarkable sweetness, always adorned with a radiant smile that brought joy to those around her. She was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty's loving nature and positivity left a mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Betty married Edward Ketchum on March 5, 1955 in Reno, Nevada.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ketchum, her father, Bud Wood, her mother, Zethel Wood, and her niece, Jacqueline Lane.
Left to mourn her loss are her beloved sons: Stanley Ketchum (Holly) of Little Rock, Rondale Ketchum (Teri) of Little Rock, Brett Ketchum (Traci) of Little Rock, and Jerome Ketchum of Booneville. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ronny Ketchum (Lindsey) of Morrilton, Keriann Meeler (Josh) of Tull, Shala Ketchum (Stephanie) of Benton, Tanner Ketchum (Amelia), Braden Ketchum, and Kaci Ketchum all of Rochester, NY. Betty's memory will be carried on by her five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Lane of Fremont, California, and her niece, Sheila Korolev (Sergei) of Fremont, California.

Betty graduated from the Arkansas School for the Deaf in the Class of 1952, embarking on a successful career at Raytheon Airline Craft, where she faithfully served for over 20 years before retiring.

Betty found solace and strength in her faith, faithfully attending the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Her devotion to her spiritual journey provided her with comfort and guidance throughout her life.


In her leisure time, Betty delighted in her hobbies, which included cooking, gardening, camping, crafting, fishing, and cherishing precious moments with her beloved family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the Arkansas School for the Deaf Historical Museum, and Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. 

 

Please join us for a service in memory of an amazing person. The memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 5300 Stagecoach Rd, Little Rock, AR 72204.
