Brenda Young

Brenda Kay Young was born January 21, 1955, and returned to Heaven on June

10, 2026 peacefully, surrounded by love. She is survived by Ronnie Joe Sanford, Jr.

(Candice Wolfe), Adam Horton (Jacki, and grandson Jase Horton), Linda Young,

Pamela “Kim” Buckley, and many friends and family. She is predeceased by her father

Morris Young, her mother Verda Curtsinger Young, her stepmother Bonnie Lou Burkett

Young, her grandfather Roy Edwards, her grandmother Maudie Bell Edwards; and her

dearly loved brother Stephen Edward Young.

Brenda was a woman of deep grit and determination who valued her

relationships above all else. Her hobbies included supporting local charities (Happy

Grey/Dorcas House), shopping with her cousin Johnnie Mae Farrish, studying

genealogy, watching Columbo marathons, and spending time with family, especially Dan

the Dog.

As in her personal life, her career choices were in service of others. Including a

proud 15 years in service of voter registration, encouraging everyone she met to

exercise this right. She was a lifelong supporter of social justices and equal rights,

notably through the life and death of her brother. Brenda never lost the passion for

learning and continued her education through Pulaski Technical College, even after

completing her degree. She found joy in learning and was fiercely independent. She

also enjoyed applying that education to varying employments after she retired from

public service.

Brenda was the kindest, warmest woman who leaves behind a legacy as vibrant

and complex as she was. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Service will be held Monday June 15, 2026, at 6:00pm at

New Life Church Downtown Little Rock
