Case Petersen

Case Richard Petersen, 89 of Little Rock passed away Wednesday June 22, 2011. He was born in Sapulpa, OK, on January 6, 1922, to Ralph C. and Inies Pinkstaff Petersen. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Phyllis Maxine Coble Petersen. Survivors include his daughter Vicki Diermann and husband Tommy Diermann of Lafayette, LA, and his son Ralph Lee Pete Petersen and wife Anne of Little Rock, and three granddaughters, Natalie Anne Petersen 25, Jessica Lee Petersen 22, and Shelby Michelle Petersen 15. Case graduated from Seminole High School class of 1940, and joined the United States Army Air Corps as an aviation gunner flying with the 747th Bomb Sqdn H. He was awarded 4 Air Metals, 6 Eastern Theater of Operation ribbons bronze stars, and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Date of entry was 14 Aug. 1942 and Date of separation 22 Sept. 1945. He and Phyllis Speed were married July 26th 1945 and were married for 60 years. Returning to the University of Oklahoma, he received his degree in Geology and pursued a career as a geologist working with exploratory drilling offshore in South Louisiana. A long time resident of New Orleans he retired from Gulf Oil Corporation with 32 years of service. Case and Phyllis moved to Little Rock in 1993 so they could be closer to their granddaughters. There will be a family and friend grave site memorial service held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, OK in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to Baptist Health Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Road, Suite 2000, Little Rock, AR 72210-2820.
