Cecil Ray Payton, 71, of Cedarville, went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 27th, 2012. He was born October 4th, 1940 at Dripping Springs, Arkansas, the 2nd son of Walter and Violet Cluck Payton. Cecil attended Cedarville High and graduated with the Class of 60’. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was employed by True Oil Company of Wyoming during the 1960’s. It was in Moorcroft, Wyoming that he met and married Betty Ann Williams. Their marriage was blessed with three dear sons. While in Wyoming the family became interested in horses, ranching, and cowboy ways. The family moved to Arkansas in 1968 where they enjoyed the farm life, raising their family, and his life’s work as a horse trainer, rancher, and local businessman. The family were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Van Buren where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his three sons: Joseph Lee, Scott Ray, Kelly Dean and wife Katrina all of Cedarville; five grandchildren: Tyler, Jessica, Cody, Reed, and Denver Payton; his brothers and sisters: Recil Payton of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, J.W. Payton of Van Buren, Otis Barnes, Jr. and wife Candace of Van Buren, Buddy Barnes and wife Lula Grace of Cedarville, Lynda Lovejoy and husband Bennett of Evansville, Rosella Vanderlyke and husband Lenard of Mulberry, Anna Faye Trentham and husband Dale of Van Buren, and Darrell Barnes and wife Debbie of Altus. He leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends. Cecil was preceded in death by his father Walter and mother Violet. Services shall be held Saturday, February 4th, 11:00 a.m. at Grand View Assembly of God Church at Natural Dam.
