David Hand

David Eugene Hand went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2011. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 17, 1938. After graduating from North Little Rock High School, and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, he was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Army, during which time he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He then worked for 17 years in Houston, Texas in the transportation industry, and then with Conoco before moving back to his hometown to retire. David was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Foster Hand and Loy Benson Hand and his daughter, Diane Elizabeth Hand. David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Allen Hand; and their children, David Allen Hand Michelle, Debra Lynn Hand, and Dean Edward Hand Stacy, along with five grandchildren, David Allen Hand, Jr. Lindsey, Andrew Foster Hand, Andrew Robert Hand, Alexander Dean Hand and Alysa Ruby Grace Hand, and three great-grandchildren, Reyna, Jordan and Zachary. David battled Alzheimer’s Disease for several years, and the family wants to express their gratitude to Nancy Nesmith, his Case Manager at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and the Arkansas Hospice team and the wonderful care that nurse Rita and others with that organization provided to the family during his illness. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on June 10, 2011 at Central Baptist Church on 5200 Fairway, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
