Eddie Charles Dunkeson, 73, passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas, on February 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and devotion to life. Born on February 28, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Eddie spent much of his life in Texarkana, Arkansas, where he built a reputation as a skilled general contractor, painter, and roofer. His craftsmanship touched countless homes and families, and he was known for his dedication, honesty, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Eddie was a man who made friends wherever he went. His easygoing nature and sense of humor allowed him to connect with others effortlessly. Whether on a job site, in a neighborhood, or among family, Eddie brought steadiness, humor, and friendship, making people feel welcome and at ease. He also loved to travel and make acquaintances with people in the areas where he traveled. His favorite trip was to the Holy Land of Israel, where he toured and walked where Jesus walked during His life.
Eddie is survived by Eve Anne Dunkeson, his children, Crystal Baker (Steven Baker), Meredith Dunkeson, Joshua Dunkeson (Alison Dunkeson), and Damien Dunkeson, grandchildren Mary Baker, Blythe Baker, Emma Dunkeson, Ellasbeth Dunkeson, Nathaniel Dunkeson, and Samuel Dunkeson, sister Karen Dunkeson, brother Earl Wayne Dunkeson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry forward his strength, humor, and love of life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Arville; his brothers, Richard Dunkeson and James Eugene Dunkeson; his son, Matthew Dunkeson; and his granddaughter, Olivia Baker. Though he faced profound losses, Eddie remained resilient in life and work.
Eddie will be remembered not only for his skillfulness and hard work, but also for his heart—steady, generous, and full of kindness and love for family and friends. His presence will be missed.
In lieu of a traditional funeral service, a wake will be held in Eddie’s memory at the fellowship hall of First Lutheran Church in Texarkana, TX on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12 PM. There will be a short devotional followed by an opportunity for you to share your memories and celebrate the life of Eddie Dunkeson with his family and friends.
May Eddie rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him.
