Elizabeth Jane (Harris) Leith

December 10, 1931 — March 9, 2026

Hot Springs, Arkansas

Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Leith went to our Heavenly Father on Monday March 9, 2026. She left this world peacefully and surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born Thursday December 10, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, NY to Arthur Vincent Harris and Helen Elizabeth Hills. After attending college and moving across the U.S. to Los Angeles she met and married Howard Kent Brown and soon became mother to Charles (Charlie) H. Brown.

Betty soon left California and moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL where she met and married Frank Butler. Betty worked in Banking/Bookkeeping most of her life until they bought a country store and Mobil gas station in St. Joe, AR in the late ‘60. Betty ran the store until Frank's passing in 1976. Betty then moved with her son Charlie to Little Rock, AR where once again she was back in bookkeeping.

In 1978 she married Martin Louis (Lou) Leith Jr.; they worked together and loved traveling the country. Betty and Lou moved back to Arkansas first to Hot Springs, then to Newark where they lived until Lou’s passing in 2008. They were married for over 30 years. Betty then moved back to Hot Springs, AR in 2016 to be close to her son Charlie and daughter-in-law Deborah Brown.

In her later years, Betty traveled mostly to Branson, MO every holiday season with Charlie, Deborah, Roy, Ruth and her 3 great grandchildren to see the Christmas show at The Dixie Stampede. It was the highlight of her year as she saved every flag and mug. Betty absolutely loved her dogs (Titus was with her at the end) as she had many over the years, but her favorite was the Sheltie breed; she just adored them.

Betty lived her life as a Presbyterian, was a beautiful artist (displayed by her painting) loved crocheting and loved and enjoyed life to its fullest.

Elizabeth (Betty) J. Leith is preceded in death by her parents Arthur Vincent Harris & Helen Elizabeth Hills, her older brother Richard Harris, her younger brother Walter Harris, Frank Butler (Husband) Martin (Lou) Leith Jr. (Husband). She is survived by her son Charlie Brown, daughter-in-law Deborah Brown, grandson Mark Brown (Kristina), granddaughter Victoria Graika (Michael) & 3 great grandchildren Ashlyn Brown, Kolton Rogers & Kaylee Rogers. Nieces Susan (Daniel) Gottheimer & Karen Goodwin. Stepchildren Amy (John Ross) Leith Landman, Dan (Jean) Leith & Linda Leith. Adopted brother-in-law Roy D. Lewis.
