Faye R. Baker, 91, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away on June 9, 2026. She was born on May 8, 1935, in Terre Haute, Indiana. During her lifetime, she lived in several different places but primarily made her home in Sulphur, Louisiana, and Mena, Arkansas.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family member, and friend whose life was marked by love, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple and beautiful things in life. She had a special love for plants of all kinds and found great joy in caring for them. Her favorite color was lavender, a soft and fitting reflection of the warmth, grace, and gentleness she carried with her.

Faye also had an eye for antiques and farmhouse-style pieces, especially those that told a story. She appreciated things with history, character, and meaning. Whether it was a cherished collectible, a planter pot, or something she found and kept because it felt special, she had a way of seeing beauty where others might have passed it by.

Above all, Faye was a devoted mother and grandmother. To her family, she was not merely a part of life—she was home. Her love, presence, and memory will remain with all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Blume of Mena; her grandson, Buddy Blume of Mena; her granddaughter, Felica Davis of Haskell; many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Chuck” Sturgell and Faye Sturgell, who owned and operated a small country store known as Bill’s Place in the Board Camp area. At the store, her mother was affectionately known as “Big Faye,” while she was known as “Little Faye.” She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles W. Sturgell Jr., and her sons, Don Blume and Paul Blume, both of Mena.

A service honoring Faye’s life will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at the nursing home, the nurses and caregivers at the hospital, and the hospice team for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Faye.

Her family will remember her with love, gratitude, and respect. Her memory will continue to live on through the lives she touched, the things she loved, and the family who will carry her legacy forward.
