Frederick Janssen

Frederick William "Sonny" Janssen, 83, of Edgemont, passed away on January 22nd, from prostate cancer. Fred was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 9, 1929. He married Patricia Ruth Powell on Valentine’s Day and they were married almost 60 years. Fred worked in a grocery store before and after school as a child. He was a meat cutter in the Marines, a plumbing contractor and a resort owner. He enjoyed fishing, watching authentic Westerns movies and shooting the bull with the boys over early morning coffee or at any fine drinking establishment that was available. Fred is survived by his wife, Pat, a sister, Norma of Heber Springs, a daughter, Julie and husband John Barnum of Greers Ferry, sons, Tim and wife Beth of Greers Ferry and Fred of Bastrop, Texas. His grandchildren are Patty, Hunter, Connor, Sammy and Summer. A memorial party will be held at 6 pm, Tuesday January 29th at Janssen’s at the Bay in Fairfield Bay. We are going to celebrate his life and "not make a project out of it." In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Cleburne County Aging Program.
