Ms. Glennis Harris Malosh was born on August 30, 1943 to Frances L Mitchell and Joshua Calvin “J.C.” Harris. The middle child of six, three brothers and three sisters, she spent her early years working and playing in and around her hometown and birthplace, the small town of Butler, Georgia. These youthful chapters of Glennis’ life story were unfortunately also peppered with great tragedy. Her father, a man she loved dearly, passed unexpectedly when Glennis was a senior in high school. Only a few years later, her youngest brother, Gary Harris, along with a handful of other family members, were killed in a tragic train accident in 1968.
Although this part of her story seemed rather dark, the sun did decide to shine on the 25-year-old Glennis when she fell head-over-heals for a handsome sailor she bumped into one day at work--Kenneth Charles “Chuck” Malosh from Toledo, Ohio. The pair wed on August 17, 1969 in Donalsonville, Georgia and this union produced two children, Charles Anthony Malosh in 1971 and Walter Scott Malosh in 1973. The couple did eventually part ways and Glennis chose to live near her family.
The chapters of Glennis’ story advanced page after page, and as with all things life, brought successes as well as sadness. She lost her mother in 1991 but gained a daughter-in-law in 1992. The marriage of her son, Charles to Tracy Smith gave her three grandchildren; Carly in 1993, Trevor in 1996, and Brenna in 2000. In 2003, her youngest son, Scott, made his mom a ‘world traveler’ when he and his fiancé, Cristela “Stela” M. Cuellar, took her on a whirlwind tour of Europe. A few years later, Glennis gained another daughter when Scott and Stela happily married in 2013.
Glennis was a devoted mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to anyone in need-- never failing to utter either a kind word to a passing stranger or offer assistance to anyone she felt might require it. Her hobbies included spending time with family and friends, singing, writing poetry, reading romance novels, making jewelry with her older sister, listening to country music, and the occasional slot pull in Biloxi. She also loved to hit the road, often traveling with her two sisters as they gallivanted around the country.
Glennis’ brother, John Calvin Harris died in 1997, followed by James Martus Harris in 2016, and more recently her oldest sibling, Betty Jo Windham, in April of 2024. Glennis Harris Malosh penned the last word in her long adventure when she passed quietly in her sleep May 24, 2025. She is survived by her younger sister, Margaret Laverne (Jimmy) Fulp, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and her sons, Charles (Tracy) Malosh, Walter Scott (Stela) Malosh, three grandchildren, Carly Malosh, Trevor Malosh, and Brenna Malosh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that she loved greatly.
