It is with heavy hearts we announce, James Russell (Jim) Semetis, 81 of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Monday September 22. 2025. 

He was born September 13, 1944 in Orland Park, Illinois to John and Frances "Froemel" Semetis (Mom & Pops). Jim attended Carl Sandburg High School, where he earned the individual State Championship wrestling title. Jim's wrestling abilities were once again recognized in 2021 when he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. After High School, Jim attended Eastern Illinois University on a wrestling scholarship. While at Eastern, Jim served as the captain of the wrestling team, while earning his Bachelor's degree. Jim went on to receive a Master's degree from Eastern Illinois University. 

After graduation Jim taught school at Wheaton High School. Jim later moved to Arkansas, where he met the love of his life, Carla Nelson. Jim and Carla spent 51 wonderful years together. 

After moving to Arkansas, Jim discovered his passion for the food and beverage industry. Jim served in a leadership capacity for various food and beverage organizations, always with a customer service focus. In 1996 Jim became the Manager of the DeSoto Club in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. At the DeSoto Club, Jim mentored countless young people sharing his passion for food service until his retirement in 2006. 

Jim is survived by his wife Carla, brothers John Semetis of Land O Lakes, Florida, Warner Semetis of Englewood, Florida, Larry Semetis of Jessieville, Arkansas and Ron Semetis of Dixon, Illinois. He will be missed by all.
