Mayflower, Arkansas

Jerry Wayne Townsend Jr., known to family and friends as Jay Bird, age 54, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Born September 28, 1971, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jerry lived a life marked by skill, loyalty, and a contagious love of family and friends. He pursued a noble career in aeronautics, dedicating himself to the skies and to the people who relied on his expertise.

Jerry is survived by his beloved fiancée, Shonia; his father, Jerry Townsend; his mother, Thelma Townsend; his sister, Angela Justice (Nicole and Payton); his daughter, Jade (Landon) Taggart; and his three cherished grandchildren, Waylon Gray, Ryker Gray, and Avery Taggart. He was a devoted father and grandfather whose heart was most fully expressed in the moments he shared with Jade and his grandchildren—the light of his life.

As a member of the Outsiders MC, Jay Bird’s “people” were a chosen family who stood by him and with whom he shared countless memories. Those who knew him remember his warmth, humor, and the fierce love he carried for those he cared about. His hobbies—riding motorcycles with friends, spoiling his grandchildren, and enjoying a good fire whenever possible—reflected the simple joys that made his days bright.

Memorial services will be announced soon by Jade and will be held at the Outsiders MC clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Toys For Tots or Arkansas Hospice in Jays’ memory.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Jade Taggart, or to the family at 1215 Military rd, Suite 4, Benton Ar 72015 or jadegray.beauty@gmail.com and memories or photos may be shared at jadegray.beauty@gmail.com

“May your final ride be easy, and the road stretch far and wide. May each bend feel like a gentle curve, ’til the horizon meets the sky. May the rush of the wind whisper in your ear, and the sun glint in your eye.”

Ride Hard, JayBird. We’ve got it from here, Dad.
