Emblem

Jimmie G. Edwards, age 75 years, of Conway, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born December 16, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late William “Cecil” and Bernice (nee Mutz) Edwards.

He worked very hard his entire life, but usually with a ready smile on this face, and a practical joke likely incubating in his brain. He was a graduate of Hall High School class of ’69, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1970, he was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock ‘77’, and UALR Law School ’83. He retired from the Little Rock Police Department, after 28 years of service. He was an Arkansas licensed attorney and worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for both the 6 th and 7 th Judicial Districts. He began doing tax work in 1999, and started his own Tax and Legal business in 2012.

He loved hunting, fishing, splitting wood, digging post-holes, gardening, and especially, cement work. (Just kidding about the cement work.) He also really loved laughing and joking with friends. He loved the farm he bought in Logan County, he loved to mow, clear the walking trail, stock the pond, he loved taking care of chicks, and chickens, and gathering the eggs.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Cecil and Bernice Edwards, his brothers Paul and Kenneth Edwards, and his son James Randall “Randy” Edwards.

Jim is survived by wife, Rhonda; his daughters, Laura (Wesley) Crouch and Sara (Jim) George; after the death of Jim’s brother, Kenneth, he tried to be a surrogate-father to his nephew Chris (Shannon) Edwards, and correspondingly, after Randy’s death, Chris became his surrogate-son. Step-sons, Abram (Danielle) Barrera and Benjamin (Jana) Barrera; One surviving brother, William “Carroll” (Nancy) Edwards; Four sisters, Helen (Doug) Tinkle, Sherian Pitts, Susan Bookalis, and Wilma Cecile Farhangkhah; and sister-in-love Kathy (Paul) Edwards. Fourteen grandchildren: Lydia Crouch, Jacob Crouch, Hayden George, Natalie George, Elijah Barrera, Jasmine Barrera, Rose Barrera, Westley Iverson, Star Iverson, Emily Nelson, Jeremiah Barrera, Josiah Barrera, Elizabeth Barrera, and Sarah Barrera. And many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Jim’s memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 10, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 3333 Dave Ward Dr., Conway, AR 72034.

Instead of flowers, he would prefer a donation be made to a local food pantry, the American Heart Association, or an animal rescue – because he cared about people and animals and was kind to them – with the exception of deer, and fish, which he liked to hunt or catch, and eat.

He would want to personally thank his wonderful clients, friends, neighbors, fellow law enforcement, and his wonderful family, whom he dearly loved, as well as the kind caretakers of Hospice Homecare in Conway; his skilled cardiologist Dr. Alex Orsini, and Jamie Jacobs, R.N. of Arkansas Cardiology; and his PCP and good friend, Dr. Thomas Moore, at Little Rock Family Practice. He was always grateful for not only the technical expertise of these practitioners but their kindness and humanity.
