Jimmy Wayne Thompson, 57, of Malvern, Arkansas, passed away on July 7, 2026, in his hometown. He was born on October 24, 1968, in Malvern to Wayne Dale Thompson and Barbara Thompson (née West).
Jimmy was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy in life was the people he loved. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in the life and relationships he built with those closest to him.
A true jack of all trades, Jimmy dedicated more than 45 years of his life to hard work. There was very little he couldn't build, fix, or figure out. When not working, Jimmy could often be found fishing, spending time with family and friends, or sharing stories. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren.
Whatever he was doing Jimmy had a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable. Jimmy was known for being dependable, loyal, hardworking, honest, and an amazing father and grandfather. All will remember his kindness, generosity, understanding, and willingness to help anyone in need. He would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar without hesitation. His spirit was perhaps best summed up by the phrase: "Hold my beer and watch this."
Jimmy is survived by his son, Cody Thompson; and his daughter, Jennifer Kemp and husband, Steven. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Justin, Jordan Jaggars, Bently, Stonie, Calie, and Oakland Thompson, as well as countless adopted grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Bobby Thompson of Malvern, Alesha Wooldridge and husband, Marty, Maggie Thompson Caskey and husband, Rodney, and Jennifer Cooper. Jimmy is further survived by his nieces Rachel, Cheyanne, Brittany, and Teri; his nephews Justin, Hunter, Connor, Maison, and Kris, Tucker, Brodie, Beau, Henry, and Braxton; and his lifelong friends Joe and Terri, David, William and Britney, Randy, Rusty and Amanda, Gary and Wendy, Lynn, Todd, and Damion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Dale and Barbara Thompson; his brothers, Jed Thompson and Thomas "TJ" Belle; and sister, Charitie Littles.
Jimmy's greatest legacy is not only the knowledge and skills he shared with those around him but also the countless lives he touched through his generosity, loyalty, and unwavering love. His family and friends will forever cherish the stories, laughter, lessons, and the memories they created together. Though he will be deeply missed, Jimmy's spirit will live on in the lives of those he loved, the lessons he passed down, and every story shared around a campfire, on a fishing trip, or among family and friends. Jimmy will be cremated in accordance with his wishes.
A memorial service to celebrate his life is being planned for 1p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Paradise Spot (Old Backwoods Boogie site) in Malvern. Family and friends are encouraged to join in honoring and remembering the remarkable life of Jimmy Wayne Thompson.
