Joe Stanley Register

Joe Stanley Register, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 13, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by his family. 

Register was born in Clarendon, Arkansas, on July 8, 1941, to Virginia Maude Register (Graham) and Hilton Eugene Register. He was a proud graduate of the Arkansas School for the Blind, Hendrix College, and Arkansas State University.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his older sister, his twin nephews, his niece, and his brother-in-law. Register’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis; his daughter, Heather Zbinden (Van) and their son, Will; his granddaughter, Nichole Rains Phillips; and his daughter’s best friend, Carolee Riley (Mike). He leaves behind his sister, Carol Randall of Clarendon, Arkansas, and her sons, Graham and Adam (Tracy); brother, Harold “Bullet” Register of Whitefish, Montana, his wife Tina and their son, Alex. 

He loved and was loved by countless neighbors and friends. Register devoted his life to advocating for people with disabilities, was passionate about piano jazz, loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, and was forever in search of the best bread pudding. He learned to play the piano at the Blind School, and his talent was admired by everyone who heard him play. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
