Johnie Eugene Keeton, 64, went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2025, surrounded by his children at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born on June 30, 1960, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Son of Callis Eugene and Ann Beatrice Jones Keeton. As the youngest of their two children, his arrival completed their family — a boy and a girl, just as they’d hoped.

Growing up, Johnie and his sister, Debra, moved often as their father served in the United States Marine Corps. Known as “Gunny,” Callis was a Marine through and through, and his dedication left a lasting impression on Johnie, who would go on to follow in his father’s footsteps by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.

After proudly serving his country, Johnie returned to Eastern Kentucky, where he began a new chapter in his life. He eventually built a career in the tire industry, and OTR transportation. Many remember his time working for Coca-Cola — the house always stocked with soda and him bringing home fun surprises from work.

Above all, Johnie’s proudest role was being a father. He is survived by his seven children: Callie Lewis (Jason) of West Liberty, KY; Shana Moore of Southaven, MS; Jonathan Keeton (Amanda) of Southaven, MS; Lisa Keeton of Bryant, AR; Johnie Keeton II (Kayla) of Jacksonville, AR; Callis Keeton of Bryant, AR; and DeAnn Keeton of Bryant, AR.

He also leaves behind 12 beloved grandchildren: Kennedy Lewis, Weston Lewis, Jaiden Moore, Raimey Moore, Caden Burnett, Jasmyne Keeton, Isla Mims, Sawyer Keeton, Paisley Keeton, Malikai Keeton, Emiliana Kate Watkins, and Presley Keeton.

Johnie also leaves behind his nephew and niece, Josh Browning (Ginger) and Cody Ann Napier (Travis), and three great-nieces and nephews: Lennon and Grace Browning, and Carson Napier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Callis Eugene and Ann Beatrice Jones Keeton; one sister, Debra Keeton Browning; and one brother-in-law, Rick Browning.

A private family memorial service is planned for a later date.
