It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Carolyn Patterson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on July 17, 2025, in Sheridan, Arkansas.
Born on January 28, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Judy was a beacon of love, strength, and resilience, illuminating the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Judy, affectionately known as Carolyn, was the daughter of Herman Russell Crabb and Louise Cranford. She graduated from White Hall High School in 1962 and dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker, cherishing the role of mother to her two children. Later, she contributed her talents to Levi Strauss until illness necessitated her retirement.
Throughout her life, Carolyn faced many challenges, yet she met each one with grace and determination, inspiring all who knew her. Her unwavering spirit and strong character left an indelible mark on her family, who will carry forward her legacy of strength and love. Carolyn was a member of the Silver Streaks and the Jefferson County Willing Workers, where she fostered friendships and shared her talents. A gifted writer and artist, Carolyn was a regular contributor to the Redfield Update, where her words resonated with the community.
Her passions extended to gardening, reading, painting, baking—her pumpkin bread and chocolate chip Bundt cakes were renowned among family and friends—and crocheting, for which she won many ribbons at the Jefferson County Fair. Carolyn’s love for animals was profound; every creature was considered a cherished member of her family, particularly her beloved feline companion, Suki.
Carolyn’s infectious sense of humor brightened the lives of those around her. She was fiercely competitive, especially in games of UNO, where she would play to win and would fight you for a piece of chocolate and a good cup of coffee. Most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her family, her greatest joy.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Connie Billingsley, her cherished grandson, Justin Billingsley, and her beautiful niece, Mlynda Crabb. Carolyn is survived by her devoted son, Donnie Billingsley Jr. (Tammy), her brother Herman Crabb (Judy), and her five grandchildren: Krystal Coleman, Dustin Billingsley (Danelle), Samantha Donatelli (BJ), Chyna Wing-Billingsley , and Colton Wing-Billingsley. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Rylan, Brysan, Clayton, Jaxson, Ezra, Hazel, Emma, and Noah, along with a nephew, Greg Crabb, a niece, Jennifer Rychly (James), and great-nieces and nephews: Emily Rychly, Makaylen Crabb, Carter Rychly, Christian Crabb and Jase Crabb.
In her final weeks, Carolyn received exceptional care at the Sheridan Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Lisa Braun for the love and support she provided. You became family to us, and we thank you for the care and compassion extended to our beloved mother and grandmother.
Carolyn will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering strength that will guide those she leaves behind. Rest in peace, Carolyn; your life was a gift to us all. We love you more than that.
