Julie France Miller, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away at the age of 71 on March 26, 2026, after a year of tumultuous health battles.
Born in Lincolnshire, England, to Bill and Jessie France, she is survived by her sister, Elisabeth Johnson; her children, Zachary (Alex) Miller, and Jessie Miller; and her husband of 47 years, Dawson Miller.
In 1978, Julie moved to America with her best friend Joyce Reddin to aid in the nursing shortage. She met Dawson, the charming boy living on the other side of a duplex, and never left. You can read more of their love story by reading the article, "The Honeymoon Honey Hole" at: https://issuu.com/arkansastimesvisitorsguide/docs/spring_wild_2024_de
Julie continued her career in nursing for 44 years until she retired from the V.A. Hospital in 2020. After retirement, Julie enjoyed slow mornings in her garden, lunch with girlfriends, and helping tend to horses. Always curious and friendly, Julie never met a stranger, often answering the common question, "Where are you from?" with a cheeky, "Where do you think I'm from?"
Julie was candid about her struggle with addiction. She used her recoveries to help mentor and sponsor others who were struggling. The community she met through A.A. and N.A. are a crucial part of her story and the family would be remiss not to acknowledge their impact.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all the people who have been instrumental in her care this past year. To the teams at BRI, Encompass and Hospice, as well as countless others who sat with her in comfort and pain, thank you.
Because of the nature of Julie's last months, her good friends were able to throw her a farewell party to send her off in style. She had a crown on her head and a smile on her face that day. She felt immensely loved.
