Larry Don Parker, 58, passed away on October 5, 2024, in Hartman, Arkansas. He was born on May 18, 1966, in Ozark, Arkansas to Lawrence Donald (Don) Parker and Shirley L. Hanson Parker.
Larry graduated from Westside High School in 1984 and later dedicated many years to heavy equipment operation in oil field, waterproof roofing, coal mining and mine reclamation, and construction. He concluded his career as a maintenance superintendent for the Coal Hill Housing Authority, where he took great pride in enhancing the grounds and living conditions for the tenants.
Known for his outgoing and friendly personality, Larry was deeply connected to his community and the people he served throughout his career. He was especially attached to many of the tenants at the housing authority, and his departure from work due to health reasons was a sorrowful moment for him.
Larry enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his efforts with others. In his younger days Larry loved motocross dirt bike racing and was quite good at it. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was deeply saddened this past year that he couldn't participate in those activities due to his health.
Larry is survived by his wife, Judy Cartmill Parker, of Hunt, his mother, Shirley L. Parker of Hartman and children Jillian Parker Esquivel, Cody Parker, Dakota Parker, Jayce Parker and grandchildren Izabella Parker, Dontay Parker, Reece Parker, Skyler Parker and Celina Parker. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Donald Parker, and his sister, Carla Parker Williams.
Larry was baptized as a child at Coal Hill Baptist church and held a strong faith in Yahweh and was confident in his salvation.
A memorial service celebrating Larry's life was held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home near Hunt, Arkansas with Rev. Steve Jacobs officiating. Donations may be made to CARTI of Arkansas, honoring Larry's memory and supporting an institution he cared about.
