Linda Kay (Orndorff) Custer

November 2, 1953 — April 13, 2024

Benton, Arkansas

Linda Kay Orndorff Custer, born November 2, 1953, passed away on April 13, 2024, at the age of 70 in Benton, Arkansas. Linda's life journey began in Cumberland, Maryland in 1953, born to Daily and Dolores Orndorff. She left an indelible mark as an angel in a Christmas play in 1963. Later became the first graduate of Votech in Cumberland, Maryland at the School of Cosmetology. For 24 years, Linda was a dedicated employee at Summerwood Partners. Her love for Jesus, her family, reading, traveling, and her cherished marriage to Dyer, celebrated at Myrtle Beach, defined her life.

Linda is preceded in death by her mother Dolores Bishop, her father Dailey Orndorff, and stepfather James Bishop, brother-in-law, Herb Simpson and sister-in-law, Linda Orndorff.  She is survived by her loving husband Dyer Custer, her siblings Herb Henry and Edward Orndorff, Becky Simpson, her children; Raymond O’Neal and Michelle Young, stepchildren; Jami Howdyshell and Micheale Daniel, grandchildren; Morgan Feather, Grace Stegal, Shelby Stegal-Sisler, Alex Howdyshell, Tristan Howdyshell, Cooper Young, Brandon Young, Hannah O’Neal, Lauren Hatten, Jordan Mack and Michena Kirk, and great-grandchildren; Penny Feather, Alex Garcia and Sawyer Martin.

Linda was Dyer’s gift from Heaven for their entire time together.  Linda, Dyer’s ray of sunshine, would get up at 5:30am every morning to care for their pets, and for the last 20 years Dyer would watch her from the bed as she was in the kitchen preparing for the day.  Linda would slowly slip into the bedroom beside Dyer’s bedside and with a tender soft voice say, “Here is your coffee, Sparky”.  Together, they created memories that Dyer says will bless him in the days to come, giving him comfort “until we meet again in God’s gathering of believers in life eternal.”

A celebration of her life will be held on April 28, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM at The Chapel of Salt Creek 5838 Salt Creek Road, Benton, Arkansas. Her ashes will be spread at Myrtle Beach.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Salt Creek Outreach PO Box 1406 Benton, AR 72018.  Linda's radiant spirit and kindness remain a cherished memory for those who knew her, bringing comfort until they meet again in God's embrace.
