Mark Barratt passed away on Wednesday November 26th in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born in Crane, Indiana, in 1955 to Leland Sinclair Barratt II, and his wife, Julia Nicholas Barratt. He was the third of four boys. As the son of a sailor, his early years included living in multiple places, a habit that was to continue later in life. Moving frequently in his early youth helped develop his character and outgoing nature. Prior to moving to Millington, Tennessee he lived with his family in Long Beach, California; Pensacola FL; Mobile, Alabama and San Diego Ca. During these years he developed a love of various sports and excelled at several. Mark attended St Williams Catholic School and Millington Central High School. During his school days Mark was a gifted athlete in football and baseball lettering starting in 9th grade until he graduated. He was selected All Shelby County in football in 1972 and credited with the third longest touchdown reception in school history. While at Millington High he was class president his Junior and Senior years. After graduating from high school he attended college for a short period of time, but suffering a stroke ended those efforts.
He was married to his wife Glenda for 27 years and is survived by her. During their marriage they moved to different parts of the US and Central America, living in Belize, Cocoa Beach and Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Millington, Tennessee before settling in Hot Springs Arkansas, with a house on a golf course (that was one of their goals in life). They were able the see and experience many things in their time together. Mark enjoyed life with Glenda along with his family and friends. Playing golf allowed him to be somewhat competitive after his sight was reduced. He liked the banter and an occasional drink to share his friendship. Quiet yet outgoing he was able to make friends wherever he lived. Mark is survived by his two children Chris and Katie Marie from a previous marriage along with their spouses and his grandchildren. He additionally, is survived by his oldest brother Lee and youngest Tim along with their spouses and kids.
