Mark Leslie Ross

Jan 16, 1948 — Oct 23, 2026

Little Rock, Arkansas

Mark Leslie Ross died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 23, 2026, after a series of progressive illnesses.

Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to all who had the good fortune to know him, his kindness and gentle spirit will live on as a blessing to others.

Born January 16, 1948, Mark grew up in Park Forest, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago and Chicago-Kent College of Law. In the late seventies, he moved to Little Rock and began Ross and Ross Attorneys with his father, Joe Ross. After 24 years in private practice, he became an attorney for the state of Arkansas Child Support Enforcement retiring in 2023 after 19 years. Mark felt strongly about his civic responsibilities and making the world a better place.

An avid reader, musician, & lover of golf, Mark studied Hebrew, French, and Spanish. He enjoyed acting in community theater plays and had many seasons with the Gridiron Show, a satirical legal parody. He found boundless joy playing his beloved Gagliano violin as a member of the Little Rock Community Orchestra. He also enjoyed working weekends at War Memorial Golf Course prior to its closing.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lillian Ross and a brother, Jeffrey Ross. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Barbara, his devoted daughter, Rebecca, whom he cherished, a loving sister, Audrey, and many friends and family.

“Uncle Mawk” as his nieces lovingly called him, will be best remembered as someone who was kind, funny, and did not know a stranger. Always giving of himself, Mark loved sharing the goodness of life, and putting others before himself. A celebration of Mark's extraordinary life will be held in the near future.

Memorial gifts to honor his life may be made to Arkansas Hospice / Life Touch Health for their loving care and compassion, and to the Community Orchestra of the Arkansas Symphony.
