Mark Schimmer, 66, of Cabot, Arkansas passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born on July 23,1958 to Nicholas and Maxine Schimmer, the fourth of five children, in Saint Louis, Missouri. After Mark graduated from Bayless High School in 1976, he went on to study safety science at Central Missouri State University. Mark was also President of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity during his time at CMSU. After graduating with a degree in safety, he started his first job at Farmers Insurance Group as a Loss Control Specialist, kickstarting a 40- year career in safety, 20 of which was spent as Quality Assurance Manager at Barbour Concrete. Mark began his working career in Saint Louis, before being transferred and settling in Blue Springs, Missouri, where he lived until his retirement. In 1978, Mark met Teresa Sue Dennis. They were married on February 3, 1979 and together had three sons, Nicholas, Eric, and Brandon. In 2020, Mark retired and spent his time in Arkansas surrounded by children and grandchildren. Mark was an incredible father who was very involved in the lives of his sons. He coached little league baseball and basketball, served as Cubmaster of Pack 813 in Blue Springs, Missouri, and took many trips with his sons and grandchildren to St. Louis to see his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Mark was an avid sports fan and loved rooting on the Cardinals, Blues, Missouri Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars in his free time. Mark was a devoted Christian, being raised Catholic, then joining the Lutheran faith, as a member of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs. For the last year of his life, Mark was a member of The Vine @ Little Rock, where his oldest son, Nicholas is the founding pastor. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Maxine, and one grandchild, Lincoln Phillip. He is survived by his former wife, Teresa (Dennis) Kintner, three children, Nicholas (Jennifer) of Cabot, AR, Eric of Apopka, FL, and Brandon (Jessica) of Maumelle, AR. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Addison, Tristan, Liam, Aiden, Hadley, Elijah, Everly, Emmitt and Delilah. The family would like to offer it’s deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at UAMS, Baptist Health and Hospice Home Care for the love and care they showed Mark over the last two years. Services will be held at Zeigenhein and Sons Funeral Home, 7027 Gravois Road, St. Louis, Missouri at 11 AM on Saturday, August 10. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
