Mary Lou (Burt) Gibson

Mary Lou Gibson, 90 of Benton, AR passed away Saturday August 15th, 2026.

Mary was a retired greeter for Wal-Mart at the Baseline and Bryant locations. She was once honored by being named “Greeter of the Year” for the entire state of Arkansas. Mary very much loved her job and her customers who often sought her out by asking, where is Ms. Mary?

Mary was a very unselfish lady who always put her family first when it came to providing and seeing to their every need. Holidays were always at the Gibson family house where friends and family feasted upon her amazing meals that she lovingly prepared every year and everyone looked forward to taking home a big plate and her delicious banana pudding.

She is already missed greatly by everyone that crossed her life path. Mary is preceded in death by her husband William D. “Hoot” Gibson, Son Donald Frank Dinger Jr. and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Gibson and son Ben Gibson of Benton, AR and sister Carol Finch of Dallas, TX. As per her wishes Mary will be spread into the Arkansas River at the exact spot where her late husband William D. “Hoot” Gibson was cast upon in 2003.
