Mary “Ann” Smith Clay, 96, was born November 26, 1929 in Barlow, Mississippi and passed away on February 9, 2026 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, W. Dane Clay and her parents, Albert Cleveland Smith and Grace Marie Barker Smith, her brother Charles Smith and sister, Mildred Niven. 

Ann was a wonderful wife, daughter and Aunt and is survived by her sister-in-law, Carolyn Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann graduated from Mississippi University for Women and taught school prior to marrying Dane. 

Ann was a Diamond Life Master in American Contract Bridge League. Ann was well known for her devotion to the Razorbacks and Dane and Ann traveled for years to most all home football and basketball games. Ann and her husband were avid travelers and visited every continent except Antarctica. 

At Ann’s request, there will be no service. 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to The Bridge House, 7415 Indian Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72207.
