Maurice (Dering) Stuart LeherJones 85, joined her heavenly family, July 20, 2023 from her home in Mayflower, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Carl Dean Jones, of Berry, Alabama.
Maurice was born July 6, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her parents, Lawrence Lee Dering and Rosie Leona Dering (Ferry) preceded her in death.
She was one of nine children. Surviving are brothers Lawrence L Dering of Festus, Mo., Stanley Wayne Dering of Springfield, Mo., and Tracy Dering of Marshfield, Mo. She has one surviving sister, Sharon Gail Dering (Philippe)of Marshfield, Mo.
Maurice loved and raised five children . She was preceded in death by two sons; James Dean Stuart Leher and N. Keirn Leher II.
Surviving are daughters Michele R. Stuart Leher (Dodson) of Berry, AL. and Dana R. Leher (Carlson) of Mayflower, AR. She has one surviving son, Jason C. Leher of Mayflower, AR.
Maurice has a blended group of 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Maurice loved spending time with family, gardening and sharing recipes. She was a thrifty shopper, both in person and by catalog. She was sometimes teased for keeping the catalog companies in business!
A typical shopping trip frequently turned into an all day event as she rarely missed eyeing an item on sale, or the opportunity to make a new friend and share life stories. She was dedicated to her family and friends; seldom forgetting to send a note or a card for a birthday or a momentous event.
Maurice worked hard in her lifetime in various capacities. Life was not always easy, but each day she awoke without dwelling on the events of the day before. It was a new day; a fresh beginning.
Maurice is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Per her request; no funeral or memorial services are scheduled at this time.
A special note of thanks and gratitude from her family to the Little Rock Hospice team for their skill, care and compassion in her final days with us.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in her memory to Hospice Home Care, 2200 South Bowman, Suite A, Little Rock AR 72211 or your local Hospice Care Center.
