Patricia Chambers Racop

October 29, 1932 — July 13, 2025

Little Rock, Arkansas

Patricia Ann Chambers Racop (Pat or Gramie as she was known to friends and family) passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 92 at her home in Little Rock, AR, after a brief illness. She was born on October 29, 1932, in Pine Bluff, AR, to Elbert Earl and Vivian Ann Chambers who predeceased her. She was the youngest of five siblings, who also predeceased her including Carlton Chambers, Frank Chambers, Louise Chambers Bray, and Doris Chambers Robey.

After graduating from Pine Bluff High School 1950, Pat attended college at Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, AR, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Home Economics. Pat was previously married to Carr Dee Racop, Jr., a Methodist minister. Pat spent her career in education starting as a home economics teacher and later as a kindergarten teacher. Their careers took them to College Mound, TX, and several places in Arkansas including Bearden, Sheridan, Gurdon, Portland, Ashdown, and finally Little Rock where she worked and lived for the last five decades. Pat was a long-time member at St. James UMC and an avid Razorback fan.

Never was there a friendlier disposition than Pat’s. Harsh words were scarcely heard from her. She was absolutely and completely devoted to her faith, family, and friends. She was widely loved and cherished. Pat particularly had a soft spot for children, not just her own but everyone else’s also. She was the epitome of a grandmother and loved nothing more than caring and feeding her family, their friends, and countless others who benefitted from her southern hospitality.

Pat is survived by her children, Rene’ (Hank) Racop Neely of Plano, TX, and Russell R. Racop of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ryan Racop (Rachel), H.E. Neely (Lachelle), Brannon Racop, and Wilson Neely (Jordan), Courtney Racop and Kaitlin Racop, six great-grandchildren, IV Neely, Cooper and Hayes Racop, Everette, Ellison and Emma Neely, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
