With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Stefanie Ann McPherson, a resident of Benton, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Surrounded by love and family, and held in God’s grace, she was called home after a lifetime of faithful service to others.
She was born to Helen Jordan McElyea and Howard McElyea, on September 28, 1946, in Schenectady, New York. Throughout her life, Stefanie was known for her pride in her Greek heritage, her beautiful singing voice, and her competitive dancing accomplishments. During her teen years, she and her family moved from New York to Little Rock, where she attended Hall High School before attending nursing school
.A devoted career nurse, Stefanie lived her vocation as a calling. She cared for her patients with unwavering attentiveness, deep accountability, and genuine compassion. To those she served, she was more than a nurse — she was a calm presence, a steady hand, and a source of comfort in moments of vulnerability. Her work reflected her faith, as she saw each person as a child of God deserving dignity, kindness, and respect.
Above all, Stefanie was a loving, loyal, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. Her family was her greatest earthly joy, and her love for them was constant, selfless, unswerving, and enduring. She nurtured not only with her hands, but with her heart — offering wisdom, patience, prayer, and unconditional love. Her home was a place of warmth, welcome, and quiet strength.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe McPherson; her parents, Helen Jordan McElyea and Howard McElyea; her mother-in-law Helen M. McElyea; her daughter, Cynthia Posey; her brother-in-law, Nathan Faulkner, Sr.; her nephew, Nathan Faulkner, Jr., and three grand nephews. She is survived by her two sons, Kevin McPherson and Steven McPherson; her daughter-in-law, Lesley McPherson; her grandchildren Megan McPherson, Michael McPherson, Kennedy McPherson and her husband Zachary King, and Alexandra McPherson; her sister, Cathy Faulkner; her nieces Helen Lovell, Natalie Grays, and Tina McClendon; her aunt Irene McCullough; her cousin Liz Marler; and many other cousins, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
A woman of faith, Stefanie trusted deeply in the Lord and lived her life guided by His promises. She found peace in prayer and comfort in knowing that God’s love is everlasting. We take solace in the assurance that she now rests in eternal peace, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the legacy she leaves behind -- a legacy of faith, love, service, and compassion. Her life was a blessing and her memory a treasure. She was, and always will be, the light of our eyes and the love of our hearts.
