Steven “Chef-O Blues” Harnar, 74, of Pearcy, Arkansas, passed away on October 23, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m. He was born on September 30, 1951, in Grover City, California.
Steve was a talented chef who worked in both Texas and Arkansas. He served as a chef at the Hyatt Regency in the Dallas–Fort Worth area before moving to Hot Springs, where he became sous chef at the Arlington Hotel. He later spent 14 years at St. Joseph Hospital, where he rose to the position of Executive Chef.
A lifelong lover of music—especially the blues—Steve enjoyed listening to live performances, photographing musicians, and sharing his passion with others. He served as president of the Hot Springs Blues Society for several years. In addition to music, Steve loved fishing and watching the horses run at Oaklawn.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Seymour and Jessica Harnar; his son-in-law, Clarence Seymour; and four grandsons: Justice and Jacob Seymour, and Noah and Tristan Harnar. He is also survived by his brother Roger Harnar, his sister Nancy Sawyer, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Jim Harnar; his son, Neil Harnar; his brother, Greg Harnar; and his nieces, Tish Harnar and Shelly Currie.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at 211 Wynn Street, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Harnar, Greg Harnar, Nicholas Fason, Ronnie Malone, and Nancy Harnar.
