Steven Douglas White (75) passed away on November 20, 2025 at LifeTouch Health Hospice in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Born in Winchester, Indiana on October 4, 1950 to Robert Evans and Doris Jean (Thorn) White, he graduated from Columbus North High School in Columbus, Indiana in 1969 and enlisted in the Air Force that same year. Following his uncle’s advice, he entered air traffic control school and did very well. During his enlistment, he was stationed in Ohio, Thailand, California and then back to Ohio.
He married Rosemary Henry on February 14, 1976 at the end of his military service. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller until January, 2022 in Dayton, Ohio, Oakland and Palm Springs, California and Denver, Colorado. He lived and breathed aviation and everything associated with it. Steve was not generally a big talker, but if someone mentioned airplanes, he was off to the races and would talk for hours. He also loved to putter in his workshop, watch music videos, and read.
In every place they lived, Steve faithfully served the Lord in the local congregation of the Church of Christ, fulfilling the role of a deacon in three of them. He was involved in many different ministries through the years, from running a Joy Bus route (where he taught Rosemary to drive a stick shift!) to Audio/Visual to Fellowship to Building Maintenance. Wherever there was a need, Steve would be there.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Rosemary, daughter Amanda White, son Alexander White, all of Jacksonville, AR, granddaughter Jaclyn Cofer of Graham, Washington, brother Martin (Patrice) White of Toledo, OH and sister Bobbi (Byron) Glover of Seattle, WA as well as his brother-in-law Jeff (Deborah) Henry and cousins, nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Jean White.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Levy Church of Christ building, 5124 Camp Robinson Rd., North Little Rock, AR 72118 on Sunday, November 30th at 3:00 pm.
