Susan “Sue” Saffell (nee Golatke), age 84, passed away on July 27th in Little Rock, AR. Born in Milwaukee on February 14th, 1942, she was a proud Wisconsinite, but had recently moved to Little Rock to live with one of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Henry and Gertrude, husband Chet, daughter Kim, brothers Jimmy and Jack, grandson Kory, and Jessica, mother of Jacob.

She is survived by her sons Randy (Jana) Saffell and James “Bundy” Saffell, sisters-in-law Ruthie and Dolly, niece Traci, nephew Jack, and mother of James- Jenny, along with grandchildren Chrysten (Ted), Ryan (Brittany), Kayla, Justin, Riley, Jeremy (Nicole), Kody, James, Jacob, Morgan, Collin (Brigitte), Hanna (Lane) and great-grandchildren Theo, Brooks, Baylor, Natalie, Brooklyn, Amya, Juliana, Jocelyn, Jensen, Bryer, Greyson, Robert, Henry, Caroline, Vivienne, Layanna, and Layton.

Sue appreciated a good margarita, loved a sunny day, and was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. She was a source of support and encouragement through life’s many challenges, providing a constant presence to her loved ones in times of joy and hardship. Her warmth and affection touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered as a woman whose life was defined by love, thoughtfulness, and unwavering loyalty to her family.

Sue enjoyed participating in local community organizations such as the Newburg Lions Club and supported various charities including Paralyzed Veterans of America, Boys Town, St. Joseph’s Indian School, St.Jude Children's Research Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, and Habitat for Humanity. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the aforementioned charities.

Per Sue’s wishes, no formal service or viewing will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
