Susan Faye (Vinson) Matthews

Susan Faye Matthews (Vinson), 73, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on July 20th, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a lifelong public servant, having worked for the City of Jacksonville and later, the State of Arkansas until her retirement in 2016.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 39 years, Gregory Matthews; parents, Bobby and Juanita Vinson; sister, Bobbie Jean Smalling; and her grandparents, Verlin and Daisy Vinson and Millard and Thelma Hart.

Cherishing her memory are her two sons, Mickey Matthews and wife Kate, of Little Rock and Robby Matthews of Jacksonville; brother, John Vinson of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, Waylon and Tyler Matthews, both of Little Rock; and her sister-in-law Angelia Griggs and husband Fil, of Hot Springs.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Lakewood Nursing and Rehab.

She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
