William (Bill) Charles Marak II, aged 74, passed away on September 7, 2025, at his residence in Little Rock, Arkansas, following a prolonged illness.
Bill was born on March 17, 1951, in Little Rock, to William C. and Joyce Frazier Marak. He attended Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic School, where he was a Boy Scout and played football. In 1969, Bill graduated from Catholic High School for Boys, where he served as student body president and was on the track team. He also played football for Catholic High and was named to the Arkansas All-State Football Team.
By offer of appointment, Bill attended the United States Naval Academy. He subsequently served in the United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserve. Bill earned his degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas. He retired as a contract computer programmer with Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Bill is survived by his wife of thirty years, Susan; his stepchildren, Corri (Jack) Sundell, Jason Bristow, and Jonathan (Skye) Bristow, of Little Rock; his step-grandchildren, Ethan, Billy, Benji, Isaac, Jackson and Ireland; and his two sisters, Jan (Mike) Posch and Kay Marak, of Windermere, Florida. Bill is also survived by four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, including Aimee (Deuce) Watson, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, J’aime Posch (Steven) Dell, Windermere, Florida; and grandnephews Tre and Jameson Dell.
Bill was devoted to his dogs. They were his beloved companions who ate well, slept well, played well, and often accompanied him on weekend errands. Bill and Susan also rescued a multitude of homeless animals: many times, they volunteered to foster adoptable animals for local animal rescue organizations, and other times they acted individually on behalf of animals in need. On numerous occasions, Bill decided his home was the best one and adopted the dog himself.
The family thanks Elite Hospice, Bryant, Arkansas, for their excellent care.
Friends and acquaintances are encouraged to contribute a donation in Bill’s memory to their favorite animal rescue organization.
Bill’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 17, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 North Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock. The rosary will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center. Bill’s ashes will be interred in the Christ the King Catholic Church columbarium.
