Zelma Misenheimer

Zelma Berk Misenheimer, 92, of Magnolia, passed away May 28, 2012 at Silver Oaks Health & Rehabilitation in Camden, AR. She was born in Hope, AR on December 3rd, 1919 to the late Albert & Emma Daniels Boswell of Bodcaw, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and their spouses: J.D. Boswell, Snow Wynn and her husband, Melvin, Carolyn Ross and her husband, Denvil, Albert Boswell Jr. and his wife, Nell, and her husband, Colonel Retired Ira "Mike" Misenheimer. She is survived by her daughter, Sonya Berk of Magnolia, a grandson, Jesse Newton and his wife, Kelly, of Maumelle. a stepdaughter, Candice Misenheimer of Columbus, Ohio, a sister in law, Lucille Boswell of Little Rock and many nieces, nephews and their children. Everyone that knew her called her Momma Zee because she loved being a Mom to all. She was interested in people, always smiling, and a wonderful cook and hostess. She was talented in so many ways through the years. In the 30’s she was a star basketball player and captain of the team in Bodcaw, Ar. After moving to Magnolia and graduating from Magnolia High School, during the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s she was a fashion buyer in Magnolia at J.A.Berk’s and later, in Little Rock at M.M. Cohn. She helped teach ballroom dancing with the Arthur Murray instructors and danced in many local musicals in Magnolia. In the fifties she was also crowned Mrs. Magnolia. She loved duplicate bridge, tournament golf and bowling for all of her life and she was an accomplished craftswoman making crochet tablecloths, afghans for gifts and intricate sequined Christmas ornaments. For her daughter, of course to show her off, she made little crocheted baby sweaters, booties and hats and for every year of dance recitals she made her fanciful costumes. If "Zee" decided to learn something, she simply did it, while still being a businesswomen, homemaker, wife and mom. Looking back, one wonders how she accomplished so much. Her legacy of favorite sayings were:
*Be sweet to everyone and don’t gossip about anyone.
*Just remember, you can accomplish more in life with honey that you can with vinegar.
*If you meet someone and you don’t know what to say, ask interesting questions and just be a good listener. *Be careful, I’ll be praying for you.
*If you want to flirt, Sonya, you have to learn to sparkle your eyes. Well, Momma Zee had those sparking blue eyes and black hair, movie star looks, charmed everyone she met, and loved life. We will miss her, but Mike will be glad to see her and heaven will sparkle a little more, if that’s possible. Memorial services celebrating Zelma’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 16th, at Central Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Seabaugh officiating. The family asks that anyone wishing to make memorials in Zelma’s memory to send them either to Central Baptist Church in Magnolia or Ouachita Co.Medical Center Hospice in Camden.
